Dawn Hadwen is an Associate Lawyer at Dostal Law, bringing a compassionate, client-focused approach to legal representation. With a strong background in human rights and public interest law, Dawn is committed to advocating for her clients with empathy, professionalism, and a dedication to access to justice. She assists clients across a broad range of legal matters and works diligently to ensure they feel informed, supported, and confident throughout every stage of the legal process.
Dawn developed her passion for law while completing her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Law with a concentration in Business Law at Carleton University. During her undergraduate studies, she cultivated a strong interest in criminal law and completed an undergraduate thesis focused on criminal justice.
She later earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, where she further developed her international focus on human rights law. As a research assistant, Dawn attended the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities session in Geneva, gaining valuable international legal insight and advocacy experience.
While studying in Windsor, Dawn gained hands-on experience in housing law, supporting individuals facing housing-related legal challenges. She completed her articling term at a municipal government solicitor’s office, where she developed experience in civil litigation, employment law, human rights matters, personal injury claims, and Small Claims Court proceedings. Dawn also served as a prosecutor in the Provincial Offences division, prosecuting highway traffic offences.
Today, Dawn combines her extensive litigation experience and human rights advocacy background to provide thoughtful, strategic, and client-centred representation in both civil litigation and criminal law matters throughout Ontario.
